Privacy Policy

BN-games builds classic board and puzzle games — Chess, Long Backgammon, Checkers, Dominoes, Sudoku, and Mahjong — for the web, iOS, Android, and as Discord Activities. This policy covers all of them. The short version: sign-in is optional, we store the minimum needed to run online play, and we don't run analytics, ads, or trackers anywhere.
Playing without an account
Every game is fully playable without signing in. Anonymous play
stores nothing about you on our servers — your settings, in-progress
games, and match history live only in your browser's or device's
local storage (localStorage), and are never transmitted
to us. Clearing your browser's site data (or uninstalling the app)
erases them.
Signing in (optional)
You can optionally sign in with Google or GitHub to show a verified name and avatar to opponents in online rooms. When you do:
- Depending on the provider, its consent screen may ask for your email address as part of its own OAuth flow — we never store it, and it's never used as your display name. We store your provider account id, a display name and avatar URL (normally the name and picture your provider gives us, or a generic placeholder if it doesn't give us a name), and — once you choose one on your profile page after signing in — a handle.
-
A session is created and referenced by an
HttpOnlycookie your browser can't read via JavaScript. Sessions expire after 30 days or when you sign out. - Signing in never links your provider account to anything beyond your BN-games profile — we don't request access to your contacts, files, calendar, or any other provider data.
To delete your account and the data above, email privacy@bngames.online — there's no self-serve deletion button yet.
Online play
Each online room's moves, game state and membership are kept in storage tied to that room only while it is open, so a game survives server restarts; everything is deleted when the room closes. For signed-in players we also record which room you're seated in (so friends can see "in a game") and the time you were last online, shown only to people your presence setting allows. If you're signed in, opponents see your display name and avatar for that session; anonymous players see a generic name. There is no messaging feature, so no message content is ever collected.
Several games offer provably-fair randomness for dice rolls and shuffles, derived from the public drand randomness beacon. This is public, non-personal data used only to make outcomes independently verifiable.
Playing via Discord
When you launch a game as a Discord Activity, Discord's SDK shares
your Discord user id, username, and avatar with the game (scope:
identify) so you can be seated at the table under your
Discord identity. This data is used only for that session and is not
linked to a BN-games account unless you separately sign in. Discord's
own handling of your data is governed by
Discord's Privacy Policy.
Analytics and advertising
None. BN-games does not include analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, advertising networks, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting of any kind. We don't know how many people play, which games they finish, or how long they spend.
Infrastructure
The web apps, the WebSocket game server, sign-in, sessions, and profiles all run on Cloudflare (Workers, Durable Objects, and a D1 database). Cloudflare receives nothing beyond what's described above, and is bound by its own privacy policy for the infrastructure it provides us.
Children's privacy
BN-games is a general-audience product and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and sign-in requires a Google or GitHub account, both of which enforce their own minimum-age requirements.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change.
